Short-term youth counselling services are offered free-of-cost to youth ages 12-17 residing within NROCRC’s catchment. These services can last from a few sessions to a few months.

Counselling services provide a safe place for youth to explore their feelings and to develop techniques to manage issues. Here are some reasons why young people seek counselling:

  • Mental health concerns such as stress, depression, anxiety, anger, suicidal thoughts and self-harming behavior

  • Family conflict and/or change

  • Relationships

  • Loss and bereavement

  • Sexuality

Youth are generally in control of their own counselling process, determining their goals for counselling, what level of involvement their parents and/or guardians will have and what information will be shared between parents and/or guardians and the counsellor.

For more information on NROCRC’s youth counselling services, youth or parents and/or guardians can call our intake line at 613-596-5626 ext. 308. When you call, you will have a brief telephone interview to assess if our services are a good fit for your needs, and if so, a face-to-face assessment will be scheduled. If your needs are not best met by NROCRC, you will be supported in accessing long-term and/or specialized services.

Please note that youth counselling services are available by appointment only.
